Hi there and thanks for coming along to check out my blog and YAY this is my first post!
I just bought a vintage caravan! After 3 years of research and thinking about how much time and energy I realistically DON'T have to restore an old van, I came across this lovely little lady.
She is a 1968 "La Contessa" Olympic fibreglass SWEETHEART and miraculously, she is in pretty good shape for her age!
If you are thinking of buying an old caravan and the thought of dealing with layers of slimy, mouldy, rotten wood and rusty metal freaks you out as much as it does me, go fibreglass, it's simply pure class!
Aside from having no door, she is in great condition (we'll sort out that door thing later).
She even has cool hydraulic legs to stand on AND a pop top roof!
Ok, the interior needs a little TLC but no mould or nasty bits, no terrifying holes in the floor or spider infestations in the cupboards. No fridge or stove either, but she does have a cool old pump-style-tap sink.
As it's been pretty chilly here on the Mornington Peninsula lately I have spent more time indoors cuddling with my beautiful kittens than actually working on the caravan renovations. Really, who can blame me with kittens this adorable to cuddle!? Could you turn your back on those furry little faces to go out into the freezing cold and sand fibreglass in the middle of winter? No, me either.
So......... I have managed to turn it into a very cute and quite functional floral design studio space in the meantime until the sun comes out and I manage to tear myself away from the black fuzzy snuggle pot and cuddle pie.
Only a couple more weeks until Spring, then some serious sanding, painting and general repairing of stuff will be taking place! Stay tuned..........
